Kurt Zouma speaks on why he left Chelsea

Former Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma in a recent statement, has revealed why he left Chelsea for West Ham this year.

Zouma revealed that he left Stamford Bridge for West Ham because he wanted new challenges.

Recall that the centre-back defender moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2014 during the time of Jose Mourinho as coach at Stamford Bridge.

He was, however, unable to make it to the first team under the coach until Frank Lampard took over.

With Lampard in charge, Kurt, to some extent, was able to cement his place in the heart of Chelsea’s defence.

But after the former Chelsea star was sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, Kurt again lost his spot in the Blues first team.

Explaining his decision to leave Stamford Bridge, Zouma told the Evening Standard: “I wanted something different. A challenge. We won a title last year with Chelsea, and I wasn’t in the starting XI at the end. I wanted to be somewhere where I could compete for that, playing week in, week out.

“Things happen. It is destiny. A new manager came in, and he made choices, and everything was working well for us. I wasn’t in the starting XI as often as I would expect to be. This is the manager’s choice, and he made them right, obviously. As a player, I have to accept it. This is in the past.”
