Reece James was one of the players who were handed 45 minutes game time during Chelsea’s first pre-season game under newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca in the US.

The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against Wrexham with Christopher Nkunku opening the scoreboard in the first-half, while Lesley Ugochukwu scored the equaliser in the second half.

James started in a new role as an inverted right back under Maresca, which saw him drop into a central midfield position whenever the Blues had the ball possession.

During the possessions, he worked next to Romeo Lavia.

In a post-match statement, the English star gave his comment on how he is adapting to the manager’s demands.

When asked how he is finding the new role under Maresca, James said via Chelsea’s YouTube channel that the early days have been very enjoyable.

He, however, stressed that it’s a lot different to what he is used to, but with how he play it suits him quite well.

James, who expressed his excitement, added that he still has a lot to learn about the new role.
