Chelsea have once again impressed with their recent performance in the Europa Conference League.

The Blues manager, Enzo Maresca in a post-match statement singled out Cesare Casadei for praise.

This comes after Casadei’s display in a new, holding midfield, role after the Blues’ 4-2 Conference League win against Belgian club Gent on Thursday.

Maresca stated that he was happy with Casadei’s display against the Belgium club, adding that the 21-year-old is very big and physically strong.

Recall that Chelsea won the match thanks to goals from Renato Veiga, Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall, Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku.

Maresca said that Casadei played very good against Barrow and played even better Gent.

The manager said he had Casadei last year and he was playing a little bit in a different position but this year, he chose to use him like a holding midfielder.

Maresca said this was because he thinks football is going in a direction where in the middle there is need for physical players and Casere off the ball is very big and physically strong and he can help the Blues when they want to press.

Chelsea will now focus on their next match against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.
