Guardiola celebrates as Man City kick Chelsea out of Carabao Cup race
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has every reason to celebrate as it now appears his squad are on course to be Carabao Cup champions again.
While Guardiola’s Man City kicked out Chelsea from the tournament, Tottenham and Arsenal have also been eliminated.
When asked about the top clubs getting eliminated from the competition on Wednesday night, Guardiola said: “Yeah, we’ll be champions already, yeah. Thank you.
“We’re confident for the fact that it doesn’t matter.
“I’ve said from day one, if we play a friendly game, Carabao Cup, Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup: we play to win the game.
“And this is the standard we are going to set in this club. Consistency in every competition, we have to do our job.”
Guardiola has won the Carabao Cup four times already since he took over at Man City in 2016.
The Spaniard lifted it in the 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons and is close to doing it again.
