Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has reacted to the club’s first defeat under new manager Graham Potter.

Recall that Chelsea suffered an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Potter’s former club Brighton over the weekend.

Gallagher, who started for the second successive match on the south coast, said Chelsea were no way near good enough to maintain our unbeaten run.

‘It’s a tough one to take. At the end of the day, we were not good enough individually or as a team. It seemed like they wanted it a bit more than us,’ Gallagher said.

‘We have to look at ourselves. We’re to blame and we are gutted, very disappointed in ourselves as a team as we know we’re so much more professional than that.

‘Credit to Brighton, they were very good. They’re a top team, their fans were up for it.’

Chelsea will have the chance to redeem themselves when they meet Dinamo Zagreb in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday.
