Former Chelsea midfielder to join rivals from Atletico Madrid

Former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is set to make a return to the Premier League from Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

A recent report revealed Gallagher is set to sign for the Blues’ rival Aston Villa.

This was made public by popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a tweet on Monday.

He revealed that manager Unai Emery’s side are on the verge of a “club-to-club” agreement for Gallagher.”

According to reports talks are at the final stages with Atletico Madrid for a loan transfer with an option to buy permanently.

At the moment, talks will continue on the player side now amid the ongoing January transfer window.

Gallagher will be a boost for Aston Villa as has played for clubs like Crystal Palace, Swansea and West Brom in the past.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa have been impressive under manager Emery this season as they currently sit at the third spot on the Premier League table, sharing the same point with Man City, who are at the second spot.

Like the Citizens, Aston Villa also stance a chance of winning the title this season as they are six points behind League toppers Arsenal.
