Following the Netherlands defeat to England in the ongoing Euro 24 tournament, former Netherlands striker, Pierre van Hooijdonk has sent a message to football body UEFA.

Hooijdonk called on the European football body to ‘blacklist’ referee, Felix Zwayer over England’s recent match against the Netherlands.

After their win against the Dutch, England will play Spain in the final on Sunday in Berlin.

Recall that the Three Lions were handed a penalty in the first half of the match when Denzel Dumfries tried to block Harry Kane’s shot, judged to have clipped the England captain in the process.

However, a VAR review saw referee Zwayer overturn his initial decision and gave England a penalty which Kane converted.

Owing to this, Van Hooijdonk wants UEFA to ban Zwayer from major matches in the future.

Speaking via NOS, Van Hooijdonk the duel with Cody Gakpo in the second half where Zwayer blew his whistle again, ten meters from the linesman were crucial in the match.

He added, “We can talk about it at length, but if you’re going to award a penalty for this. Then you could end up with eight of them on the spot in the final. Really terrible.”
