Christensen’s contract with Chelsea crashes amid interest from Barcelona
With a few days to the start of the January transfer window, a report has claimed that the contract talk between Chelsea and their defender Andreas Christensen has crashed.
This comes amid interest for the Denmark international from Spanish club Barcelona, who are determined to add him to their squad.
The 25-year-old Blues defender has just six months remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, after which he would be free to leave the club.
According to Sport, Christensen has told Chelsea that he will make a decision over his future in January as he considers a potential switch to Camp Nou.
The report added that Barcelona have been in talks with the Denmark international for several months, but they will only make a move to sign him if they fail in their pursuit of Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who Chelsea are also interested in signing.
Aside from Barcelona, English Premier League clubs Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as European clubs Juve, AC Milan and Bayern Munich, are also interested in Christensen.
So far, the Danish centre-back has made a total of 145 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, winning four trophies, including the UEFA Champions League last season.
