Christensen opens up on why he is leaving Chelsea
Chelsea defender and Denmark international Andreas Christensen in the latest statement has opened up on why he is leaving the club this summer.
Christensen in a statement simply said that his desire for a new challenge, having spent ten years at Stamford Bridge is why he is leaving.
The Denmark international, who started at Chelsea at the youth level, said it was ‘time to leave the club.’
He was close to signing a new deal with Chelsea before he unexpectedly made a u-turn leaving the Blues ‘furious’ with his decision to snub a new deal.
Christensen will be a Barcelona player by July 1 on a free transfer.
The Denmark international has explained his reason for dumping Stamford Bridge for Nou Camp, saying in a statement on Monday, “Having spent ten amazing years at this club, I felt now was the right time for a new beginning for me and my family,” he said.
“Mentally the last few months have been tough as it’s not been an easy decision to leave this club and the fans.
“I’m not the most talkative person, so sometimes people don’t understand how much the club and the fans mean to me,” he said.
