Chelsea vs Southampton: likely prediction

Chelsea will return to action this weekend in the English Premier League, competing against Southampton.

The Blues have had a challenging outing in their last two previous matches against Man City and Juventus.

Recall that the Blues suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend vs Man City and a second defeat against the Italian side, Juventus, in the Uefa Champions League.

They will now face Southampton with the hope of bouncing back and redeeming themselves after a poor run.

Ahead of the weekend match, former Arsenal star and football pundit Paul Merson has predicted the Blues to emerge the winner.

He, however, stressed that the way Southampton play are very unpredictable as they held Man City to a goalless draw last month.

Commenting on the Chelsea vs Southampton game in an interview with Sportskeeda, Merson said, “Southampton were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in their previous Premier League encounter, but they got a point against Manchester City after a 0-0 draw earlier this month. The way they play, they are quite unpredictable and will cause Chelsea a lot of problems, but I fancy Chelsea to win this one.”

He predicted the Blues to win the match by a 2-0 scoreline.
