Chelsea set to pay £3 million to recall this player
A latest report has revealed that Chelsea are set to pay £3 million to recall Palmieri Emerson from Lyon in the ongoing January transfer window.
Emerson left Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2021/2022 season as he was less preferred to Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order.
However, after Chilwell was ruled for the rest of this season owing to an ACL injury, the Blues have been short of options at left wing-back and had identified Emerson as his preferred replacement.
Since the Blues didn’t include a recall option in the contract signed with Lyon, the French club sign are not under any obligation to allow Emerson to return to Chelsea.
The reports revealed that Lyon are not ready to let the Italian defender leave, at least not in January.
A latest update on the transfer by Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea are offering Lyon a fee of €4m (£3.33m) to use their own player during the second half of the season.
Romano added that Lyon have already rebuffed two approaches from Chelsea.
