Chelsea planning to sign this Barcelona youngster

Chelsea seems to be preparing for the summer transfer window as the reports have revealed that they are interested in signing Barcelona star Gavi.

Gavi, who only turned 17 years of age in August, is highly wanted by top European clubs as he is already regarded as a key player at Camp Nou, with 20 starts being made in all competitions this season.

However, while the teenager is said to be committed to the Spanish side, Barcelona are yet to negotiate a pay-rise to match his greater status.

According to El Nacional, Chelsea are monitoring the situation, aware that Gavi currently possesses a £42m release clause in his existing deal.

The report suggested that the world champions are more likely than not to make an offer for the Spaniard, despite the likelihood of the player remaining at Camp Nou.

A further report from ESPN disclosed that there is a desire from all parties to extend Gavi’s contract at the Spanish club.

It is uncertain that the Catalans would let a player of Gavi caliber have the club for the EPL.
