Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reacted to claim that the Blues were reliant on England international Cole Palmer.

Recall that Palmer has been impressive for the Blues since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Man City last year.

He put up a great performance last weekend after scoring all of Chelsea’s four goal against Leicester City.

Ahead of the Blues match against Belgian side Gent in the Europa Conference League, Maresca spoka about Palmer’s role at his squad.

When asked if Chelsea are reliant on Palmer, Maresca in his pre-match statement said it’s not about being reliant.

He stressed that the Blues have already played some games without Pamer.

He, however, stressed that any team in the world would need a player like Palmer.

“Some players need to be protected They need that. Cole needs to be protected a little bit,” Maresca said.

The manager also spoke on the Blues’  performance so far.

He stressed that if the the results are analysed Chelsea have probably improved.

According to Maresca, Chelsea are ahead of his expectation and are doing well.

He, however, added that they still have many things they need to improve on.

“We are happy, the feeling is good,” he said.
