The EPL has taken a decision not to reduce Chelsea point following their brawl with Leicester City some weeks back.

Recall that Chelsea met with the Foxes in the EPL after they were defeated by the same club in the FA Cup finals.

Thomas Tuchel led Chelsea squad would however go ahead to win by a 2-1 vs Leicester City in the EPL to avenge their FA Cup final defeat. But tempers flared between the players, following Ricardo Pereira’s tackle on Ben Chilwell.

This led to players and coaching staff clashing on the touchline.

Following the brawl, there were indications that points will be reduced but the latest report has revealed that instead, the FA has fined both clubs £22,500.

The FA spokesperson said: “Chelsea and Leicester City have been fined £22,500 each after admitting a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture on Tuesday 18 May 2021.

“Both clubs admitted they failed to ensure their players and club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from provocative behaviour during the 93rd minute of the fixture.”

If Chelsea points had been reduced, they would still be playing in the Champions League next season owing to their recent win in the tournament this season, therefore the FA latest decision is the best.
