Chelsea may be poised to acquire a world-class player through a significant swap deal this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Despite a busy transfer window that has seen the Blues sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu, and Tosin Adarabioyo, reports suggest Chelsea could pursue a swap deal involving a major player moving to Stamford Bridge.

Romano revealed on social media: “Napoli are exploring options for Victor Osimhen as they aim to bring Romelu Lukaku to their squad as soon as possible.

It is understood that Napoli could be open to including Osimhen in discussions with Chelsea regarding Lukaku. Osimhen has agreed to join PSG, but the deal is currently on hold between the clubs.”

Chelsea has long been linked with Osimhen, alongside Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.

It has been a challenging start for Chelsea’s new head coach Enzo Maresca, following a 2-2 draw with Wrexham and a 4-1 defeat to Celtic.

Commenting on the recent loss to Celtic, Maresca said: “We are experimenting with many tactics and have not yet had the chance to try everything as we only started training 15 to 20 days ago.

After just five minutes, we had already created two or three scoring opportunities. In the second half, our team performed very well until the third goal, continuing to create chances.”

The Italian coach added: “We didn’t concede a shot in the second half until the 75th minute. After conceding the third goal, it became more difficult for us.

It’s crucial to recognize the difference in physical conditioning between us and our opponents. Celtic have already played four pre-season games and are about to start their official season, whereas we are still finding our physical rhythm.”
