Arsenal Engages in Talks with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, But Superstar Prefers Chelsea
Arsenal has reportedly initiated discussions with Napoli regarding a potential move for star striker Victor Osimhen, although Chelsea remains a strong contender in the race for his signature.
The Nigerian international is among the most sought-after forwards in Europe, and Napoli anticipates his departure this summer, already identifying a replacement.
New Napoli manager Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in bringing Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku to the Diego Maradona Stadium if Osimhen leaves, which is expected.
While Osimhen is open to the idea of joining Chelsea, a significant obstacle in any potential deal is his hefty valuation.
The 25-year-old has a £110m release clause in his contract, and Napoli is unwilling to consider offers below this amount. They have already rejected a €90m (£76m) bid from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli is eager to sign Lukaku “as soon as possible” and may consider discussing Osimhen as part of negotiations with Chelsea.
Sources have informed TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser Gillan that Osimhen is prepared to join Chelsea if an agreement can be reached with Napoli but is also open to a move to PSG.
Arsenal remains interested in Osimhen, and reports from Italy indicate that the Gunners have held talks with Napoli about the striker in recent days. So far, no club has come close to matching Osimhen’s release clause, keeping the race for him open.
Mikel Arteta has prioritized signing a new striker after missing out on Benjamin Sesko earlier in the window.
Arsenal is looking to replace Eddie Nketiah, who has been told he is free to seek a new club this summer amid interest from Marseille and other English teams.
Viktor Gyokeres, the goal-scoring sensation from Sporting CP, is reportedly Arsenal’s top target, with plans for an imminent £60m bid.
However, Sporting is demanding £86m for the Swedish international, leading Arsenal to consider Osimhen as a viable alternative. The competition for the Napoli star is expected to heat up in the coming weeks.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal will need to determine how much they are willing to invest in Osimhen, and they must act quickly, as Paris Saint-Germain could submit an improved offer.
Liverpool has also shown interest in the Napoli talisman, indicating a strong possibility of him changing clubs this summer.
Chelsea’s connection to Conte’s interest in Lukaku could provide them with a strategic advantage, but it remains unclear how much the Blues are willing to spend on Osimhen.
