Atletico Madrid’s Ambitious Bid for Arsenal and Chelsea Target

Atletico Madrid have made a surprising move to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, presenting a bid that involves Joao Felix as part of a loan deal with an option to buy the Argentine forward.

Julian Alvarez, a World Cup winner in 2022, is valued by Manchester City at around £75 million, with an additional £10 million in potential add-ons.

Despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG, Alvarez is reportedly interested in a move to Spain.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to keep the 24-year-old, stating he is “counting on him” for the next season.

Guardiola, however, acknowledged that the final decision will be made collectively once Alvarez returns from his international duties with Argentina, which include the Copa America and the Olympic Games.

Joao Felix, who scored 10 goals in 44 appearances on loan at Barcelona last season and had a brief stint at Chelsea, is being offered as a makeweight in the deal. Felix has previously attracted interest from Manchester City, adding a strategic element to Atletico’s proposal.

Despite this, Guardiola remains firm on retaining Alvarez, emphasizing that all players want to participate in key games.

Following Manchester City’s 4-2 pre-season win over Chelsea, Guardiola reiterated his intentions to keep Alvarez, stating, “No news. I don’t have anything to say. He will come back. I count on him, but he said in the news that decisions will be made all together.”

When asked about Alvarez’s potential departure, Guardiola added, “I knew he said he will think about it. Once he has finished thinking, his agent will call Txiki [Begiristain] and we will see what happens.”

Alvarez responded to the rumors by clarifying his position: “I heard what Guardiola said. I don’t have much to say about it. I never said anything bad.

I just said that I was going to think about it like I do every season to make an analysis of what happened last season, a projection of what may come.

I always say that I am comfortable and happy at City, which is a great club. So I didn’t say anything bad.”
