Arsenal Poised for Early Premier League Title Boost if Manchester City Approves £85m Transfer

Arsenal could emerge as favorites for the Premier League title if a surprising double transfer involving Manchester City materializes.

The Gunners are gearing up for their third consecutive battle against Pep Guardiola’s squad for domestic supremacy after coming close in the past two seasons.

Mikel Arteta and Edu have assembled a strong squad, ensuring a core group of players is in place and new signings have been made to address previous mistakes.

Last season, both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aaron Ramsdale made critical errors that led to goals, prompting Arsenal to bolster their roster with the acquisitions of David Raya, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori to enhance the squad’s overall quality. Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino is also a target, especially following the departure of Emile Smith Rowe, as the club seeks to add another midfielder.

While Arsenal has been active in the transfer market, Manchester City’s summer has been relatively quiet, with rumors of player exits dominating the headlines.

Although the reigning champions have secured Savinho, speculation about Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne potentially moving to Saudi Arabia has subsided, with both players expected to stay.

Julian Alvarez is now reportedly on the move, with recent reports indicating that Atletico Madrid is interested in acquiring the forward.

The Spanish club is reportedly offering Joao Felix as part of a swap deal, with Felix set to join City on loan with an option to buy, along with some financial compensation. City values Alvarez at £85 million, making the completion of such a deal uncertain.

Felix, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona and has Premier League experience from a stint at Chelsea, struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge.

If Alvarez were to leave and Felix were to join, it could lead to a perceived decline in the quality of City’s attacking options.

As Atletico Madrid prepares to welcome Robin Le Normand and Conor Gallagher as key signings, securing Alvarez would depend on their ability to generate substantial funds.

Nevertheless, given the public discussions between Guardiola and Alvarez regarding the latter’s future, a departure cannot be ruled out.

Arsenal remains linked to the Argentine international, alongside Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, though a transfer to the Emirates Stadium seems unlikely amid the current title race dynamics.
