Arsenal reportedly priced out of deal for highly rated midfielder due to wage demands
Chances that are Arsenal will sign a new player before the transfer window comes to an end is still unclear as they’ve been priced out of the deal for James Maddison.
Arsenal have been linked with Maddison ever since the transfer window opened and reports have claimed that the England international will love to move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, latest report has revealed that James Maddison’s wage demands could make it difficult for Arsenal to sign the Leicester City attacker.
According to The Athletic, Leicester City are demanding £60m as the transfer fee for Maddison, a sum of money Arsenal are not willing to pay.
With that not sorted out, Maddison’s wage demands have also discouraged Arsenal.
The report claims that Maddison would expect a salary in excess of the £110,000 a week that he currently earns at the King Power Stadium.
Arsenal’s only chance of paying Maddison such weekly wages is by moving a number of players on before the end of the window and that might not be possible.
Maddison still has three years left on his existing contract with Leicester City.
