Antonio Rudiger defends himself amidst claims of bust-up with Frank Lampard
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has finally spoken up about his relationship with Frank Lampard before the English trainer was dismissed.
Lampard’s adventure as a Chelsea manager ended some weeks when he was sacked by the board after a run of five defeats in eight Premier League outings saw them slip to ninth on the table.
The sack of Frank Lampard as Chelsea’s manager brought a lot of drama as some senior players were accused of pulling the strings that ensured the former Blues midfielder was dismissed.
Rudiger was reported to be the protagonist as reports emerged that the German international went as far as reporting his coach to some board members.
However, Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Tammy Abraham defended Rudiger and claimed nothing of such happened.
The former Roma defender has now spoken for the first time as he stated that there
have been so many nonsense rumours about him since last week, Rudiger told The Athletic.
He noted that he never talked with the board about the situation of the coach or on any other topics.
Rudiger insisted that Frank Lampard trusted in his abilities after Christmas in a very difficult situation and he was thankful for that and it was also the main reason why he told his representatives not to look for a possible winter move anymore.
The talented defender who has started the first two matches in Tuchel’s era added that unfortunately, it was not meant to be for our team to turn things around for the coach as they always wanted the best for the manager and the club.
