Amorim singles out former Chelsea star at Man Utd
Manchester United newly appointed manager Ruben Amorim has singled out Mason Mount for praise ahead of his debut as the Red Devils’ boss.
Amorim stated that the injury-riddled midfielder is a “perfect” fit for the Red Devils’ new system.
Recall that Amorim arrived at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag’s permanent replacement at the start of November but is yet to be in charge of his first game at the club.
So far, the Portuguese has been limited to training sessions with some of his full squad while many players were away on international duty.
Mount was one of the players who remained at Carrington after he didn’t get a call up by England over his fitness and form, which has limited him to just a few Premier League starts all season.
The former Chelsea academy graduate has struggled to impress at Old Trafford ever since he joined Man United in 2023 from Chelsea.
It, however, looks like Mount is about to experience a turnaround following Amorim’s arrival.
“Mason Mount. I have to tell you I love that kid,” Amorim said in a statement via the club’s official website this week.
Mount could get a chance to shine when the Red Devils take on Ipswich Town on Sunday.
