Arsenal Seek Creative Reinforcement
Arsenal are considering a move for Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer, according to a report.
The 20-year-old Moroccan playmaker could become available after Leicester’s relegation, and he would provide valuable cover and competition for captain Martin Odegaard in the Gunners’ midfield. However, any surprise deal may depend on Arsenal first offloading a player valued at around £30 million to free up funds, the report suggests.
Manager Mikel Arteta is prioritizing reinforcements in the final third after his side fell short in attack this season.
A new striker tops the agenda, and a left winger is being targeted to strengthen the flank and provide competition for Gabriel Martinelli. Adding another creative midfielder is also part of Arsenal’s summer plans to ensure depth in playmaking positions – a role El Khannouss has now been linked with filling.
El Khannouss’ Profile and Performance
Despite Leicester City’s dismal campaign, El Khannouss emerged as a rare bright spark for the Foxes. The attacking midfielder joined Leicester from Belgian club Genk in 2024 for a £21 million fee and is under contract until 2028.
In 29 Premier League appearances this season, El Khannouss registered two goals and two assists – a modest output, yet he impressed observers with his vision and technical ability.
Leicester’s likely drop to the Championship is expected to prompt a clear-out of top talent, and El Khannouss’s stock remains high. Any transfer won’t come cheap – Leicester would demand a significant fee to part with their young playmaker in order to recoup their investment.
Arsenal will have to weigh the cost against their budget and other priorities, but the club’s intent to add creativity and attacking depth indicates El Khannouss is firmly on their radar.
