Arsenal Open Talks for £58m Striker Viktor Gyökeres as Andrea Berta Leads Pursuit

Arsenal have reportedly opened preliminary discussions with the representatives of Viktor Gyökeres, as the club begins exploring a potential summer transfer for the prolific Sporting Lisbon striker.
According to Sky Sports Germany, talks are underway as the Gunners seek to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.
Gyökeres has enjoyed a sensational campaign in Portugal, netting an astonishing 52 goals in 48 appearances. His form has attracted widespread interest, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich all monitoring the 26-year-old. However, the Sweden international is said to prioritise joining a club competing in the UEFA Champions League—an advantage Arsenal currently holds. Some reports also suggest that Gyökeres would favour a move to north London over other destinations.
Securing a top-class centre-forward is considered a key objective for Arsenal this summer, particularly under the guidance of newly appointed sporting director Andrea Berta. Berta, who joined the club from Atlético Madrid in March, is reportedly eager to bring Gyökeres to the Emirates and is actively working to progress negotiations.
While Gyökeres has yet to commit to any club, Arsenal’s early engagement may give them a competitive edge. Sporting Lisbon are expected to demand around £58 million for their star forward, a fee Arsenal could be willing to meet as they look to build a title-challenging squad for the 2025/26 season.
Discussions are ongoing, with Arsenal hoping to move swiftly to secure one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.
