Zirkzee singled out for criticisms despite Man Utd’s win Vs Rangers

Manchester United returned to action in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday when they played against Rangers.

Following the Red Devils narrow 2-1 win, the club’s former star, Rio Ferdinand singled out striker Joshua Zirkzee for criticism over his display.

According to Ferdinand, the Dutchman was ‘non-existent’ for most parts of the match at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand stressed that the 23-year-old was not a threat in front of goal against the Rangers.

The striker linked up with play, with just two shots and four touches in Rangers’ penalty area before he was replaced by Rasmus Hojlund in the 82nd minute.

Reacting to Zirkzee’s performance, former Scotland striker Ally McCoist said via TNT Sports stressed that while the striker had done well, Manchester United’s need more of a goalscoring threat.

Ferdinand, meanwhile said he felt Zirkzee was non-existent in the first half. He, however, acknowledged that he improved in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils were able to emerged as the winner against Rangers, thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ late winner as Ruben Amorim’s side claimed a narrow 2-1 win at home.

Man Utd are also in the race for new players in the ongoing January transfer window.
