UEL: 7 clubs qualify for round of 16

The UEFA Europa League for this week has come to an end and seven teams are assured of a spot in at least the knockout stages of this season.

Lazio, Anderlecht, Athletic Club, Frankfurt, Galatasaray, Lyon and Manchester United are the clubs that have made it to the nexy

Athletic Club emerged as the first club to progress into the knockout phase, after their 2-0 win at Fenerbahçe on Matchday 6.

They were then joined by six other clubs on Thursday as L yon played out a goalless draw at Fenerbahce, Anderlecht were defeated 2-0 at Viktoria Plzen and Frankfurt beat Ferencvarois 2-0.

Meanwhile Lazio thrashed Real Sociedad 3-1 and Man United managed to beat Rangers in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

However, none of the clubs are yet to secure an automatic Round of 16 place.

Lyon sit top of the league phase with 19 points after seven fixtures, while Frankfurt are second with 16 points.

This is the first Europa League season under the new format recently put in place.

Meanwhile, the top eight overall move directly to the round of 16; clubs finishing from ninth to 24th will take part in the play-offs, with the winners going through to the last 16.
