Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea was recently linked with a return to Manchester United amid the ongoing summer transfer window.

However, a more recent update has revealed the transfer will no longer be happening as the plans has been thwarted.

While speculations claimed De Gea expressed willingness to re-join Manchester United if manager Erik ten Hag exited the club, the recent reports revealed the shot-stopper is now set to sign for another club.

The Athletic claimed the 33-year-old goalie informed his inner circle that he would be happy to return to Old Trafford if Ten Hag and John Murtough were no longer at the club.

While Murtough has left Old Trafford, Ten Hag managed to keep his job at Man Utd amid claims he could be sacked towards the end of last season.

Ten Hag, however, signed a new contract with the Red Devils after he helped them win the FA Cup against their neighbours Man City in the final.

With Ten Hag keeping his job at Old Trafford, De Gea is now set to announce a different club in the coming days.

The Spanish goalie has been linked with moves from clubs in Saudi Arabia, America and Italy.
