Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, in a recent update confirmed the Red Devils’ interest in signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

Amid the Red Devils link to De Ligt, there were speculations that Ten Hag wanted the move in order to reunite with his former Ajax player.

However, Ten Hag dismissed the claims, adding that he hasn’t pushed for a transfer for his former player.

While De Ligt is interested in reuniting with his former Ajax coach at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have allegedly held up the deal.

This comes after Man Utd completed deal for their second signing of the summer Leny Yoro from Lille this week, ruling out their move from De Ligt.

Ten Hag in a comment via AD Sportwereld said it remains to be seen if De Ligt will come to Old Trafford.

The manager added that he wanted to sign the former Ajax two years ago but at that time, he was already very far along to join moving to the German league with Bayern Munich from Italian side Juventus.

Ten Hag, however, added that this summer window De Ligt’s name did not come from his  in the process of targeting signings.
