PSG star decides on signing for Manchester United
Manchester United may have been handed a major boost this January transfer window as Paris Saint-Germain left-back, Nuno Mendes is said to be interested in moving to Old Trafford after rejecting a contract offer from his current club.
The Red Devils have identified Mendes as one of their favourite options to solve the problem on the left side as manager Ruben Amorim is keen on bolstering their defence.
Recall that Amorim worked with Mendes during their time together at Sporting CP and it could be a reunion for them at Old Trafford.
Amorim gave the 22-year-old defender his first-team debut at Sporting in June 2020 where they spent just over a year together before he signed for PSG on loan.
Mendes’ transfer to the French Ligue 1 champions was then made permanent for £34 million.
Meanwhile, his time at PSG has been marred with injury as he missed the majority of last season because of a hamstring.
But he witnessed a turnaround this season, making 17 appearances for PSG across all competitions.
He has also emerged as PSG manager Luis Enrique’s first-choice option at left-back.
The French club are said to be willing to tie Mendes down to a new contract as his current deal expires next year.
But FootMercato reports that Mendes has turned down PSG’s latest offer as he wants a reunion with Amorim.
