Manchester United have bid goodbye to one of their players temporarily ahead of the new season.

Amid the ongoing summer transfer window, recent report revealed the Red Devils striker Joe Hugill has left manager, Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad to sign for Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/25 season.

Man Utd confirmed the transfer in an announcement on their website on Thursday.

Recall that Hugill scored Man United’s second goal during the Red Devils’ 2-0 win against Rangers in a pre-season friendly clash last Saturday.

Another report also revealed that Wigan Athletic have handed the 20-year-old the no.9 shirt at the League One club.

Hugill will hope to get regular first-team football and gain experience under manager Shaun Maloney.

“Everyone wishes Joe the very best of luck and we’ll be monitoring his progress closely over the season,” Man United’s statement read.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have been linked with moves for several players this summer as they intend to bolster their squad under Ten Hag.

The Red Devils who managed to lift the FA Cup last season which saved Ten Hag’s job will be looking forward to competing for trophies next season and finishing in the top four on the Premier League log.
