Manchester United may give interim coach Ralf Rangnick a chance to lead them permanently next season.

This comes as the report claimed the club are impressed with the Red Devils performance under the German.

Man Utd have won five of their eight Premier League matches under Rangnick as their coach.

They have suffered just one defeat and are currently seated in the fourth position on the league table.

While Man Utd, in an earlier statement had stressed that German would be handed a two-year consultancy role this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag thought to be the favourites for the coaching job at the Old Trafford.

The Red Devils may have had a change of mind as a report via The Sun disclosed that they have put their hunt for a new manager on hold, as Rangnick has made a strong impression on club chiefs.

The report claims that the board are watching closely to see how the 63-year-old performs between now and the end of the season, with the German potentially being considered for a long-term role.
