Arsenal have been urged to make a bold move for a Manchester United forward this summer, with former defender Rio Ferdinand insisting the player would be an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s title-winning side.

The Gunners are prioritising the signing of a new left winger as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign. Uncertainty surrounding the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard has accelerated Arsenal’s search for additional firepower, with Trossard widely expected to complete a move to Turkey before the transfer window closes.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is currently evaluating several attacking options. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers remains a leading target for an advanced midfield role, while Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis and Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola are also being closely monitored.

Despite those links, Ferdinand believes Arsenal should instead pursue Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford. The former England international argues that Rashford’s pace, direct running and proven Premier League experience would significantly strengthen Arsenal’s attack.

Ferdinand believes Arsenal should “sweep him off his feet” and take advantage of the opportunity to sign the England international for a reported fee of around £40 million.

Rashford is understood to be available this summer after failing to secure a permanent move elsewhere, and Arsenal could see the experienced forward as a cost-effective solution compared to some of their other high-profile targets.

Whether the Gunners decide to act remains to be seen, but Ferdinand believes Rashford has the quality to make an immediate impact as Arteta looks to build a squad capable of defending the Premier League title and competing for Champions League glory.
