World most expensive goalkeeper unhappy at Stamford Bridge

World most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, has expressed his unhappiness at Chelsea over limited playing chances.

It is no longer news that Kepa has lost his first spot as Chelsea goalie to Edouard Mendy. The Spanish goalie has, however, admitted that life as Mendy’s deputy at Stamford Bridge is “not easy”.

While Kepa, 26, remains the world’s most expensive goalkeeper after his £71m move to Stamford Bridge from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, he has, however, struggled to justify his huge amount paid by the Blues to sign him.

His error-prone performances made the Blues sign Mendy from Rennes and the latter has so far established himself as Thomas Tuchel’s number one goalkeeper.

Kepa while speaking to Radio Marca has opened up on his frustration as he said: “Everyone wants to play. Everyone wants to be in the starting line up on Saturday and Sunday.

“For outfield players, there’s a chance of coming on, but the goalkeeper surely isn’t going to play. It’s not easy. The game days when you don’t play aren’t easy.”

So far, Kepa has only 40 clean sheets from 110 appearances for Chelsea and his current contract with the Blues will not end until the summer of 2025.
