Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has opened up on why the club are allowing their young defender Fikayo Tomori to join Seria A giant AC Milan.

Fikayo Tomori is currently not having the best time at Chelsea as he has been forced to spend majority of the season on the bench.

The England international is currently behind Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger in the pecking order at Chelsea and will be moving to AC Milan on a six-month loan deal.

However, Tomori’s deal has come as a surprise to some fans as they believe the young defender should not be allowed to leave due to the fact that he has gone on numerous loan deals.

Speaking to the press ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Luton, Lampard stated that he has five centre backs.

He noted that too many of players will raise questions like; what players he should pick or not and when the team is searching for consistency, or going on an unbeaten run.

Lampard who seem to have already moved on from Tomori at Chelsea noted that he has to pick two at a time and the numbers don’t always add up.
