One of the star men of the match between Chelsea and Newcastle Utd at the St. James Stadium on Saturday was Reece James.

This comes as James scored a brace for the Blues against the Magpies as the Blues remain at the top of the log.

However, it is believed that James could have scored a hat-trick for Chelsea on Saturday if he wanted, as he could have taken the penalty shoot taken by Italian midfielder Jorginho.

Jorginho, in a post-match statement, has now revealed why James didn’t take the penalty vs Newcastle.

Recall that nine minutes to the end of the match, Chelsea were awarded a penalty after Kai Havertz was fouled in the area.

Jorginho, before taking the penalty kick, asked James if he wanted to take it, but the defender turned down the chance that could have seen him score a hat trick.

“If he had asked, we would have had a conversation, but he didn’t.

“He came over to support me,” Jorginho told ESPN Brasil.

Jorginho also applauded James’ opening goal as he told Chelsea’s official website: “He’s amazing with both feet, so he opened the game for us, and it was great; it was a beautiful goal.”
