Why Potter shouldn’t start this two defenders together
Football pundit, Andy Jacobs, has observed some players in the Blues squad and has advised Chelsea’s new manager, Graham Potter not to start two of his defenders together in EPL games.
Jacobs listed the two players to be Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta as he advised Potter not to play them together on the pitch in matches.
This is coming after the Blues’ Champions League 1-1 draw against Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.
The game saw Potter starting the two defenders, Silva and Azpilicueta, against RB Salzburg over more young options like Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.
The two senior defenders failed to impress as their mistakes cost the team dearly.
Silva failed with his attempted challenge in the build-up to Salzburg’s goal while the scorer inside the box outsmarted Azpilicueta.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Jacobs advised Potter not to start Silva and Azpilicueta in Chelsea’s next match to avoid losing the game.
Jacobs said, “If you play Thiago Silva and Azpilicueta together in a Premier League game, you will lose that match.”
