Former Man United star Gary Neville has revealed why Chelsea owners have not sacked Graham Potter amid their struggles this season.

Neville, who said Chelsea owners wouldn’t be patient forever, stressed that Potter has not been sacked because the club owners want to do the right thing, having sacked manager Thomas Tuchel earlier to employ him.

Recall that Chelsea suffered another 1-0 defeat to bottom-of-the-table Southampton on Saturday, with James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick winning all points for the Saints at the game played at Stamford Bridge.

The former Manchester United defender told Gary Neville Podcast that the former Brighton many is under massive pressure which was made evident by Chelsea’s jeering him during Saturday’s defeat.

“Potter is under massive pressure. You can see it in his face. The boos at the end of the game, felt a little ominous,” Neville said.

“I think they’ll want to do the right thing, the Chelsea owners…”, Neville added.

While Chelsea have splashed almost £600m in signing new players in the last two transfer windows, Neville advised the club’s owners against sacking Potter but added, “I suspect that nerve is being tested, as any owner would be when you’ve spent that level of money and you’re losing games at home to the (side) bottom of the league.”
