Why Man City will no longer make move for Messi
There seems to a change of plan about bringing Lionel Messi from Barcelona to Man City next season.
Recall that Man City was linked with moves to sign Messi last summer transfer window but the deal didn’t materialize with the Catalans keeping him back at Camp Nou.
At the commencement of this season, the Citizens were again linked with moves for the Argentine striker but a recent report claimed they were no longer interested in him.
Another report has now claimed that Man City will miss out on signing Messi owing to the fact they expect him to sign a new contract at Barcelona.
Messi’s current contract with the Catalans is expected to lapse this season but there are indications that Barcelona will offer him a bumper fral to keep him at Camp Nou.
according to Football Insider, Guardiola’s side are expecting Messi to sign another ‘blockbuster contract’ with Barca to keep him at the club for the rest of his career.
The report further claimed that the 33-year-old’s relationship with the Catalan outfit’s new president Joan Laporta means that the attacker is now unlikely to seek pastures new.
With this Man City and PSG who were also interested in signing Messi in the summer will have to forget about bringing him on board.
