What Chelsea could gain from signing Simons

Chelsea are close to having Xavi Simons in their squad from RB Leipzig this summer transfer window.
A recent move by Simons also showed he is interested in joining the Blues as he has now removed RB Leipzig from his Instagram bio, hinting at the possibilities that an agreement has been reached by both club.
Should Simons’ move to Chelsea become a reality, his arrival will be a boost for the Blues as he has developed a reputation as one of Europe’s brightest attackers.
Simons, who once played PSV man has scored 21 goals and created 23 assists in 73 competitive games for the Red Bulls, including 17 goal contributions in 25 Bundesliga matches in the 2024-25 season.
Aside from Simons’ attacking output, his versatility also makes him an attractive proposition for manager Enzo Maresca’s side.
This is because he can play off the left or in the number 10 position, and should he operates in the latter, it could result in Chelsea star Cole Palmer moving over to the right side in the attack line.
The attacker’s arrival will see Chelsea offload players considered surplus to requirements, including Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku this summer window.
