Under-fire Chelsea striker reveals how Tuchel has been helping him build his confidence
Chelsea forward Timo Werner has opened up on the impact of Thomas Tuchel has had on him ever since he joined the club some weeks ago.
Timo Werner has been under-fire in recent week as the summer signing from RB Leipzig has failed to live up to the hype that saw Chelsea splash cash on him during the summer.
However, the German international has been showing his class ever since Thomas Tuchel was employed as Chelsea manager as he once again put in an impressive performance in blues victory over Sheffield United.
Werner laid off a good ball for Mason Mount to slot in the first goal before pouncing on a mistake from Sheffield United to get a penalty which Jorginho scored.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, Werner stated that he’s happy when the team win and when he made two assists but as a striker, he wants to score.
Werner noted that it’s a long time now for him and he has never had such a long period without scoring in his career.
On ending his goal drought, he added that you can’t do anything but keep going, to try to do your best on the field with that, the goals will come.
Werner then went on to praise Tuchel as he stated every manager is different in how they want to play.
According to the former RB Leipzig forward, Tuchel gives the team a lot of ideas and now he’s playing as a left ten and not a left-winger, so he has more space for his runs in the middle.
Werner added that he can also play behind a striker or with a ten behind me and these are good for me as he thinks with the last wins, it’s shown it’s a good move from the manager.
