UCL: Chelsea coach reveals he tried to sign this Atletico Madrid player

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel ahead of his side faceoff vs. Spanish side, Atletico Madrid in the Uefa Champions League has revealed he tried to sign Luiz Suarez.

According to Tuchel, he had the intention to sign Suarez while he was in charge at Paris Saint Germain PSG. He revealed the club tried to make the signing a reality but it didn’t work out.

As at then, Suarez was a player at Camp Nou where he was a key player in the Barcelona senior squad.

While PSG were unable to secure his signing, Suarez instead remained in the La Loga as he moved to Atletico Madrid.

However, Suarez who played at Liverpool has quickly become a key part of the Diego Simeone’s led side.

Tuche in his statement said, “it was a possibility. We heard the rumours he was about to leave Barcelona, and who cannot be interested in signing one of the best strikers in world football history and the present?”

Tuchel added that PSG tried their luck but did not make it as he decided to stay in Spain where he moved to Atletico and has proven his quality.

“Suarez is a natural striker, a born striker, and has the certain mentality that only strikers have,” Tuchel added.
