Chelsea will return to action this weekend when they face Everton, led by manager Frank Lampard.

The Blues head to the match after they were held to a 1-1 defeat by Man Utd at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Ahead of the match vs Everton, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said he was looking forward to meeting the former Chelsea midfield and coach Frank Lampard, who is now in charge at Everton.

Tuchel thanked Lampard for his support early on in his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The German was appointed after Lampard was sacked as manager at the west London club and has enjoyed a successful period.

Under Tuchel, the Blues have won the Champions League and Club World Cup while they currently occupy third place in the Premier League table.

Lampard, on the hand, is struggling at Everton, who are in the relegation zone.

“I was a huge fan of him as a player, and he is – and will remain – a legend at our club. This is a given.

“We didn’t have the chance to go out and have lunch, and he also took the chance to go and take charge of Everton. He took an assistant from us, Joe Edwards, and were not so happy! Just joking.

“I would love to meet him. We need the points, and they need the points urgently as well. It is an exciting week for me personally.”
