They don’t know what they want: Chelsea slammed over move for Barcelona striker
Former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Petit in a recent statement has reacted to Chelsea’s decision to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
According to Petit, the Blues don’t know what they want as he described it as a panic buy.
Chelsea are in need of a striker following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner this summer.
The reports revealed that the Blues have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of the 33-year-old.
Chelsea are expected to pay a total package worth €25million (£21m) for the former Arsenal striker, who moved to Camp Nou in early February.
“Auba looks more a panic buy than something the club have been thinking about for months,’ the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder told Fairbet.
“The transfer market is ending in a few days and Chelsea are in a panic.
“They want to buy defenders, strikers, but they just don’t know what they want.
“I don’t see the real qualities behind it, the projection in the future,” Petit added.
“If you want to spend so much on a player, you need to have a vision, but I don’t see that coming from Chelsea.
“It’s a gamble. He can score goals but he has to be fit physically and be good in his mind.”
