Ten Hag hails Man Utd goalie despite 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has applauded the club’s new goalkeeper Andre Onana after their pre-season friendly 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the NRG Stadium in Texas.
Ten Hag revealed he was pleased with Onana’s performance during the match.
Recall that Man Utd signed Onana from Serie A side Inter Milan as a replacement for David De Gea who exited the club as a free agent this summer.
“I think good, solid,” Ten Hag said as spoke on Onana’s form after the game.
“Two very good saves. He was there in the moment the team needed him, so he did his job. I think he integrated well into our team.
“This is the first game and detail, we have a lot of work to do between him and the defending part (of the team). You could see with the second goal where we aren’t close at the back post. It can’t be that and goals will come there.
“There are things that are rules we have to follow, and they will come quick, that we integrate that into our way of play.”
