Chelsea star Raheem Sterling expressed how pleased he was to score against his former club Manchester City during their Saturday encounter.

Recall that Sterling scored the opening goal, cutting back onto his right to get away from former team-mate Kyle Walker before slotting past Ederson to give Chelsea the lead.

While he was pleased with his contribution, he, however, stressed that he was frustrated it didn’t prove to be the winner.

‘I was pleased to score and help the team, of course,’ added Raheem.

‘I was played in and I felt Kyle [Walker] coming in fast behind me. That made my mind up to check back onto my right, as initially I was thinking I’d shoot early with my left.

‘That gave the chance to have a quick change of direction to create a little more space and thankfully I was able to finish it off.

‘Like I said, it’s just slightly tinged with the disappointment that we couldn’t get the win following such a strong performance. But that’s what we need to show going forward, keeping that consistency.’
