Chelsea appeared to be keen on signing a new striker before the summer transfer window deadline.

In a recent update, popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano once again mentioned that the Blues are still linked to Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

While the chances of the deal happening becoming slimmer by the day, Chelsea’s recent performances in the pre-season games have given them more reasons to sign a new striker.

It is unlikely that the Blues will be willing to pay the Naples’ release clause for the Nigerian forward.

Aside from Osimhen, Romano in his update also spoke about another striker to Chelsea this summer which appears to be more realistic than the Blues signing the Nigerian.

The football expert in his Here We Go podcast revealed the Blues are still in race for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

Chelsea are likely to sign Omorodion this summer rather than sealed a move for a top player like Osimhen.

The Premier League side will, however, have to include Conor Gallagher in the deal to convince Atletico Madrid.

According to Romano, as of now there is no approval yet from the La Liga club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are still in the market for a new winger and striker.
