Manchester City are reportedly willing to put an end to their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane as they tend to sign Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona was finally settled some hours ago as the Argentina forward will not be signing a new deal with the Catalonia club.

This announcement has sparked different reactions from fans and top clubs across Europe are monitoring the situation of Messi.

With Lionel Messi one of Pep Guardiola’s favourite player of all time, Man City are thought to be the favourites to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

According to The Express, Harry Kane’s hopes of moving to Manchester could be ended by Messi’s exit.

Messi’s exit from Barcelona means Manchester City will channel all their energy towards agreeing a deal with the Argentina international.

The report added that Man City had been ready to offer £130m for Kane but could now instead place their full focus on putting together a lucrative package to entice Messi to the Etihad Stadium.
