Premier League side eager to complete a deal for out-of-favour Man. United star
Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard gave a good account of himself during his six months loan spell at West Ham United last season.
However, the arrival of Jadon Sancho at Manchester United means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be forced to let go of one of his attacking players.
With Anthony Martial set to stay at the club, Lingard has been tipped as the player to make way as he might still struggle for first-team football.
West Ham United are on top of the list of clubs eager to sign him as they want him back on a permanent deal rather than a loan deal.
West Ham United coach Stuart Pearce has now confirmed that the club is still interested in a permanent deal with Lingard and hope to sort out the deal in the next few days.
Speaking to TalkSport, Pearce stated that West Ham chasing after Lingard is an open secret.
He noted that the ball is in Manchester United’s court as Lingard is contracted to them, but West Ham would like him to come to their club; there is no doubt about that.
According to Pearce, Lingard is a special lad and was very good around the players; the players really like him.
Pearce added that Lingard’s ability shone out last year and gave the team a great option in their squad. You never know, but at this moment in time, it looks like he is fighting for a place in the United line-up.
