Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has shared his opinion on Chelsea’s Timo Werner and why has not been able to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Werner was signed from a RB Leipzig for a fee reportedly worth £47.5million but has been under the spotlight for some matches now as he has not been able to find the back of the net.

His barren spell continued on Monday night when Chelsea defeated West Ham United as he was also guilty of missing some clear cut chances.

Bent has now revealed the main reason the Germany international has been having problem converting clear chances as he noted that he is not a natural goalscorer.

Bent who is one of the most recognised striker in Premier League history told talkSPORT that because of Werner movement and pace he’ll always get opportunities especially the way Frank Lampard’s Chelsea play.

What’s needed of Werner according to Bent is calmness in front of goal as he looks like he’s snatching.

He said, “Werner is so worried about the finish sometimes, he’s losing track of the ball with say his touch for instance. ”

Bent added that Werner has to regain confidence as a player.

However, Werner will be eager to end his goal draught as soon as possible, a move that takes time and patience.
