Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Liverpool might continue their struggle in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool had a season to forget last time out as they couldn’t defend their Premier League title nor win any other silverware.

With the new season set to start in the next few days, Ferdinand revealed that Liverpool might struggle after realizing what they have ahead of them.

After saying that Gini Wijnaldum will be a big miss, Ferdinand then asked his FIVE YouTube show if the Africa Cup of Nations was this season.

Speaking on the platform, Ferdinand stated that if it’s AFCON this year, Liverpool will miss Mane and Salah at some point.

Ferdinand stated that it’s a big year for Liverpool and but he’s a bit concerned for them in a lot of ways as they’re relying on the same front three again.

According to Ferdinand, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez, no one knows how they’ll recover. Midfield is an important part and the reds midfield was based on energy, legs, intensity.

He added that Liverpool will undoubtedly miss Wijnaldum this season as he was too important and reliable for that not to be the case.
