Potter recalls his warning to Chelsea owners
Former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, in a recent statement has spoken about his time at Stamford Bridge.
Potter revealed he once asked for support from the Blues owners but they failed him.
The former Chelsea and Brighton manager said American billionaire Todd Boehly and his compatriots were only interested in signing players without selling, which caused ptoblems in the dressing room and training.
Potter while speaking on The High Performance Podcast said that he told the Blues owners there was no guarantee of success just because they were signing players.
The former manager opined that what Chelsea needed was to keep the squad numbers in control .
“At the end of the day, you’re the owner. You’re the guy that’s responsible for the football club. If you want to do this, then my job is to support it,” Potter said.
He recalled trying to convince Chelsea owners to have a change of heart in regards to signing players.
Potter told the Blues owners that signing new players were not guarantees that it’s going to improve the team because the profile of the players they could sign.
He added that the Blues were not willing to sell players despite signing new ones.
